DOCman has a built-in download counter which tracks how many times a specific document has been downloaded.
You can filter documents in the backend and frontend and in the modules by most popular which puts the most downloaded documents on top.
In both backend and frontend DOCman can show the number of downloads alongside the documents. For the frontend you can enable this using the document options in the list block you created for DOCman.

DOCman also supports different download statistics mechanisms which can be used together to get download statistics information:
Log all uploads
DOCman does not have a built in upload logging feature. However, you can be notified of uploads via the Notifications panel of the Submit documents block.
