Hi. How can we help?

Article Auto-save

Last updated: 20 April 2022

Articles are automatically saved every 30 seconds. The article is also saved when you navigate away from the page, to ensure that you never lose any changes.

The save is triggered when you navigate away from the page. No matter what, the last changes that you made are always saved.

TEXTman will auto-save the article in following scenarios:

  1. It will auto-save every 30 seconds.
  2. It will auto-save before you navigate away from the page.
  3. It will auto-save if you click the preview button (Learn more about article previews)

If you have not manually saved the changes TEXTman will notify you about this, if you click cancel the un-saved article will be discarded.

When auto-save kicks-in an auto-save indicator is displayed in the toolbar.

The last auto-saved date is also displayed.

New Article

When a new article is auto-saved (i.e. not yet saved by clicking the Save button) an internal revision is created of that article.

Note: An unsaved article doesn't exist in Joomla, it only exists in TEXTman and it is accessible at the top of the listing page with the corresponding Article Category.

Auto-save New Article

  1. Click New Article from the Menu Bar or New from the toolbar button in the Dashboard listing page.
  2. Write the article, select a Category and wait for 30 seconds or go to other pages or just simply leave the New Article form.
  3. Go back to the Articles Listing page under the menu item that corresponds to the Category you selected when you created the new Article.

Result: Your unsaved article will be listed at the top of the listing page.

Cancel New Article

  1. Click on the unsaved article.
  2. Click the Cancel button.

Result: Your browser will prompt you with a message to proceed, by clicking Ok, to cancel without saving, or by clicking Cancel to continue editing the article. Clicking Ok in the prompt will also delete the unsaved Article.

Existing Article

When an existing article is auto-saved (i.e. not yet saved by clicking the Save button) the internal revision for that article is updated. So when you open an edited but unsaved existing article you can continue with the changes you made the last time it was auto-saved.

Note: An unsaved article doesn't exist in Joomla, it only exists in TEXTman and it is accessible at the top of the listing page with the corresponding Article Category.
