Share documents with students

Use case

  • Students can only see specific documents
  • Parents can only see specific documents
  • Teachers can see all documents

Solution

Students and parents can only see specific documents, while teachers can see all.

1. Create user groups

  1. Navigate to Users > Groups > Add New Group.
  2. Create 3 user groups: Students, Teachers and Parents.
  3. Set Parent to Registered.

4. Create menu item

  1. Navigate to Menus > All Menu Items.
  2. Click New
  3. Set Title to Documents.
  4. Set Menu Item Type to DOCman > (Default) Hierarchical.
  5. Set Access to Registered.
  6. Click Save & Close.

2. Create students category

  1. Navigate to Components > DOCman > Categories.
  2. Click New.
  3. Set title to Students.
  4. Under Permissions set Access to Groups and select Students and Teachers
  5. Click Save & New

3. Create parents category

  1. Navigate to Components > DOCman > Categories.
  2. Click New.
  3. Set title to Parents.
  4. Under Permissions set Access to Groups and select Parents and Teachers
  5. Click Save & Close.

4. Create documents

Start creating documents in the different categories.

Tip: Leave Access of the document on Inherit.
